Jerwood Bank 2007

The following is what I wrote last night but failed to log on to the bank07 site.

Today felt like i had entered into the process. I had fun exploring the material and getting into the next level when we started condensing,editing and clarifying the thoughts and the movement events. But when we showed our material to a partner, either my thought became blurred or my movement lost the essence of the original idea. It’s like the context and the movement event wouldn’t connect. For what I can see, I had mainly relied on the physical impulses or actions to form thoughts,images or pathways of the breathe and I wonder whether I should try the other way around. Well, I’ll do that tomorrow.

And now after 2 slices of my daughter’s birthday cake, I am back to bank07.

It was the last day with Gill and the class had layered groundedness to me  for the sensing of the weight of the hand and arm made me become aware of the connection between the gravity, through the feet, the spine, up to the hands and into the space. Perhaps it was the class that did it, I found it easier to focus on the specifics of the movement events. It  also helped me draw my attention to identifying the cause for each event so as to find an anchor or a reason for my actions. I am curious to see how and what the material I’ve set today will transform into with time and familiarity.
